Social Service Internship Initiative by MCA Students for Odisha State.

M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science & Commerce

Overview

As part of a social service–oriented internship, MCA students from M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science & Commerce collaborated with the Odisha NCC Directorate under the guidance of Col. Sunil Kumar MS, Commanding Officer, 13(O) BN, to design and develop a user-friendly and secure Online Exam Portal for NCC cadets.

Purpose of the Initiative

The primary goal was to support NCC cadets, especially those residing in remote and Naxalite-affected regions, by reducing the challenges associated with long-distance travel—often over 250 km—to appear for examinations. The digital platform enables a smoother, faster, and more accessible examination process.

Key Features of the Online Exam Portal

  • Online Cadet Registration: Simplified onboarding for cadets from all regions.
  • Automated Hall Ticket Generation: Immediate and error-free issuance of hall tickets.
  • Admin Dashboard: Secure verification and approval system for administrators.
  • Mobile-Responsive Interface: Ensures accessibility from smartphones, benefiting students without access to computers.

Impact and Significance

This initiative effectively addresses gaps in digital infrastructure for NCC exam management in remote areas. The portal enhances transparency, reduces logistical delays, and empowers cadets with timely access to exam-related information. The system significantly saves time, reduces travel burdens, and promotes digital inclusion for marginalized regions.

Recognition and Outcome

Upon successful completion of the project, participating MCA students will receive:

  • Internship Certificates
  • Appreciation Letters from the Odisha NCC Directorate
  • Recommendations for further Internships with Government of Odisha as acknowledgment of their technical contribution

Conclusion

This project stands as a best practice model of how academic institutions can collaborate with government agencies to deliver impactful digital solutions. It highlights the commitment of MCA students to social service, innovation, and nation-building through technology-driven initiatives.
