Dr. M.S. Ramaiah, a visionary and philanthropist, established Gokula Education Foundation (GEF) in the year 1962, to deliver education and healthcare for the betterment of mankind. The Gokula Education Foundation as a registered Trust runs several educational institutions under the flagship of GEF, M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (MSRCASC) was established in 1994. The college is permanently affiliated to Bengaluru City University (BCU). The institution has received the autonomous status from UGC, Government of Karnataka and Bengaluru City University from the academic year 2023-24. The Institution is recognized by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956. The Institution is reaccredited with an "A" grade by NAAC in its 4th cycle in the year November 2021.
