Programme Overview

The Department of Humanities offers two combinations of undergraduate programmes in Journalism, Political Science and Optional English (JPOE), and Psychology, Journalism and Optional English (PJOE). Both these programmes are for a duration of 3 years, consisting of 6 semesters.

The BA in Journalism, Optional English Political Science is a multidisciplinary undergraduate program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the art of storytelling, critical thinking, and political analysis. This program integrates the study of media, governance, and literature to create well-rounded graduates equipped for diverse career paths. It helps to acquaint and analyse contemporary developments and political science concepts like power, equality, authority, and governance. Graduates of this program are well-prepared for careers in media houses, public relations, research, risk analysts, public policy consultants, civil services, content creation, political commentary, para-legal officers, intelligence specialists, and academia. This program is ideal for students seeking to understand and influence the interconnected worlds of media, politics, and literature while developing skills to thrive in a dynamic and evolving job market.

The eligibility requirements for this program are that Candidates who have completed two years of pre-university course (10+2/PUC) from Karnataka State Board or its equivalent from other states/boards with 40% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible for admission into this programme. Also, students pursuing an International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations. Further, Applicants pursuing the IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits, and applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.
