Melange 2.O
The Department of Humanities successfully organized Mélange 2.O, an intercollegiate fest held on 16th and 17th September 2025 at MSRCASC under the theme “Blending Art, Mind, and Machine.” Inaugurated by Mr. Siddappa Kaloji, editor of Vijayavaini Digital, the fest brought together 323 enthusiastic participants from various colleges, offering a vibrant platform for creativity, innovation, and intellectual engagement.
Mélange 2.O featured a wide range of events designed to test artistic expression, critical thinking, and technological awareness. Competitions such as Crisis Simulation, Debate, Escape Room, Best Psychologist, Mind Spark, and Product Review encouraged analytical ability and problem-solving skills. Creative talents flourished through Poster Making, Photophile 2.O, Film Fusion, and On-the-spot Reporting, while cultural events like Solo Dance, Group Dance, Solo Song, Band Battle, and the Fashion Show added energy and excitement. Gaming and quick-response events, including BGMI and Pick and Speak, further showcased student versatility.
The fest successfully met its objectives by promoting collaboration, innovation, communication, and leadership among participants. Mélange 2.O concluded on a highly positive note, setting a new benchmark for intercollegiate fests at MSRCASC and leaving a lasting impression on both organizers and attendees.
Melange 2025
The Department of Humanities successfully organized Mélange 2025, two-day inter-department fest held on 5th and 6th May 2025 at the Kuvempu Seminar Hall and Humanities classrooms, MSRCASC. With over 250 participants from Political Science, Journalism, and Psychology, the fest celebrated interdisciplinary learning, creativity, and student leadership.
Day I began with an inaugural ceremony in the presence of Prof. B. S. Jayarama, Dr. Ganesh Naik, and faculty members. Political Science events included an Oxford-style debate and group discussion that encouraged critical reasoning and public speaking. Simultaneously, Journalism students participated in “Capturing Emotions,” a mobile photography activity that highlighted visual storytelling skills. Engaging fun games added energy and enthusiasm to the day.
Day II featured Psychology-focused activities, beginning with psychometric assessments on happiness, stress, loneliness, and depression. This was followed by “Human Error 101: Escape Room,” a multi-round problem-solving challenge that tested teamwork and analytical thinking. The fest concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, accompanied by a video presentation capturing memorable fest moments.
Mélange 2025 successfully fostered academic engagement, creativity, and collaboration among Humanities students, showcasing their diverse talents and vibrant participation.
STUDENTS CAPTURE MOMENTS OF CREATIVITY AT INTRA-COLLEGIATE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

The Department of Humanities (Journalism & Mass Communication) at Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) organized an Intra-Collegiate Photography Contest on August 6, 2025, at the MCA Gallery Room. The contest was held to commemorate World Photography Day, observed on August 19, and to encourage students to explore photography as a medium of creativity, communication, and self-expression. The event, coordinated by Mr. Sarath B, aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure by allowing students to experience the artistic and technical dimensions of photography. It provided a platform for participants to showcase their unique perspectives, composition skills, and storytelling abilities through the lens. A total of 20 students from various departments participated, each submitting original photographs based on the theme “Nature. ” The contest encouraged students to apply concepts learned in class—such as framing, lighting, and visual balance—while experimenting with camera angles and postprocessing techniques. It also emphasized originality and ethical photography practices by restricting the use of AI-generated or heavily edited images. After careful evaluation by the judges, Syeda Subiya Sugara (BA 1st Sem) secured the first place, Vismay Rao (BSc 5th Sem) won second place, and Nanditha P S (BSc 5th Sem) earned third place. The winners were congratulated and felicitated by the Principal, who appreciated the Media Team for successfully organizing an event that celebrated both creativity and skill.
World Photography- Click for shots

On August 19, 2024, Department of Humanities hosted the event Click4Shots, showcasing themes of Campus in Motion, Architectural Symmetry, and Students' Expression. The event was organized by Dr. Nethravathi and coordinated by Pooja YP. Participants were given 1 hour to select and submit five photos, all of which had to be taken within the college campus. These submissions were collected by volunteers for review. From the submitted photos, one was chosen by the distinguished judges, Professor Saritha and Research Coordinator Kirti from the Department of Management Studies.
QUIZ COMPETITION ON INDIA'S CONSTITUTION AND REPUBLIC DAY

The Department of Humanities – Political Science organized a quiz competition on 3rd February 2025 at 11:30 AM in the MCA Gallery Room. Coordinated by Mr. Ganesh Naik, the event aimed to enhance students’ awareness of India’s Constitution, history, and the significance of Republic Day. The quiz covered topics related to Republic Day celebrations, the Indian Constitution, and Freedom Fighters & Leaders. Students actively participated, showcasing their knowledge and enthusiasm.
Mock Elections for BA Department Student on account of ‘International Day of Democracy

The Department of Humanities organised a ‘Mock Elections for BA Department Student on account of ‘International Day of Democracy’. The United Nation observed across the world on 15 September as ‘International Day of Democracy’ with the aim of give awareness on importance of democratic values in world. Hence, the department organised ‘Student Council Election’ for BA Department Students on 21nd November, 2024 at 12:30 PM in MCA Gallery Room M S Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce.
World Mental Health Day Celebration at MSRCASC
Date: 14th - 16th October 2024
The Department of Humanities (Psychology) organized a three-day inter-department event on 14–16 October 2024 to raise awareness about mental health and well-being. A total of 71 students from various UG and PG programs participated. The event featured poster-making and poetry-writing competitions, giving students a creative platform to express their thoughts on mental health. Alongside these competitions, fun and interactive games were conducted to promote teamwork, communication, and peer engagement, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere. The closing ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by inspiring messages from Principal Dr. Pushpa H. and Vice Principal Jayaram, who encouraged students to host more such initiatives. A video montage capturing the highlights of the event was showcased, and prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions. The celebration effectively promoted awareness, creativity, and collaboration, leaving a meaningful impact on the student community.
