Programme Overview

The Postgraduate Department of Biotechnology at MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, established in 2002, has been a hub of academic excellence and research innovation for over two decades. With a distinguished faculty of eight members, including doctorates and postdoctoral experts in diverse fields of biotechnology, the department is committed to nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders. The department focuses on hands-on training and research guidance, encouraging students to engage in minor , Seed money and KSCST projects equipping them with essential practical and research skills , writing and publishing research articles. With an annual intake of 45 students, the department consistently produces university rank holders, reflecting its dedication to maintaining high academic standards.

The department actively organizes various programs to enrich student learning, including guest lectures, value-added programs, outreach activities, and industrial visits, giving students exposure to the latest advancements in biotechnology. The annual Biofest and the in-house club - Biotitans, provide vibrant platforms for students to showcase their talents and engage with their peers and industry professionals. The Department has been recognized as a Research center by Bengaluru City University for conducting PhD program. The department now hosts four research supervisors who guide and mentor PhD students in pursuing high-quality research. This blend of academic rigor, practical experience, and a supportive learning environment positions the department as one of the leading institutes in Biotechnology Education and Research.
