RESEARCH

Using Metabolic profiling for the identification and characterization of the potential mixtures of bioactive metabolites or quality biomarkers in wild Cymbopogon spp. The extracts of wild C. flexuosus collected from different locations have antioxidant activity. There was significant correlation between the antioxidant and total phenols in wild C. flexuosus from Charmadi ghat which could be due to broad-spectrum of pharmacological active compounds. Phenolics and flavonoid function as antioxidant compounds by modulating endogenous antioxidant system and direct ROS scavenging pathway. The study investigated toxicity and antioxidant properties of extracts of wild and cultivar spp. And showed that wild spp. was found to have better antioxidant properties.
