Samskrita Dinam 2023 – Report

The Department of Sanskrit had decided to celebrate World Sanskrit Day and the Samskrita Dinam event was organized on 5th September 2023, Tuesday, in Abdul Kalam Auditorium at 11 am. The event started off with the inauguration of the exhibition by the chief guest Dr. S. Jayalakshmi, a renowned Sanskrit scholar and an Artist, and the principal Dr. Vatsala G. The exhibition which was set up by the students of all streams showcased various categories of items with their Sanskrit names.

After the inaugural of exhibition, the stage event commenced wherein the principal gave the presidential address followed by the chief guest addressing the students. In her presidential address, the principal stressed on the point that the students must study Sanskrit for the sake of preserving the great amount of knowledge, moral values and principles it contains and not as mere scoring subject.

The chief guest in her speech threw light on the significance of Sanskrit as a language along with the knowledge tradition which it contains. She also focused on the moral values which the Sanskrit texts contain and how they were pertinent even in this age. After the guest speech, the prize distribution to the winners of the competitions took place. The chief guest gave away the prizes to the winners. The formal event concluded with the felicitation of the chief guest by Dr. Padmaja M R.

Later on, the event witnessed various cultural performances by the students. The performances included classical dance, semi classical dance, drama and fashion show in the end.

On this occasion, various competitions for students and faculties were also conducted. The competitions were conducted from 21st – 23rd August, 2023 and the details of them are as follows:
