Skill Orientation Program: Internship in Future Tech Along with Project-Based Learning

The Department of Computer Science organised a Skill Orientation Program titled “Internship in Future Tech Along with Project-Based Learning” at the Kuvempu Seminar Hall for 5th Semester BCA students, with 92 students participating. The session was delivered by Mrs. Beena Lankesh (Business Development Manager, Rooman Technology), who discussed emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science, Generative AI, Agentic AI, Cloud Computing, DevOps, and Cybersecurity. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Prathiba V Kalburgi, Head of the Department of Computer Science, and Ms. Bhoomika Akki, Assistant Professor, introduced the resource person and facilitated the proceedings. The session aimed to enhance students’ technical knowledge and job readiness through real-world project exposure, and the event was coordinated by Ms. Hari Priya G S.
IIC Activity – Empowering Young Minds with Ideas That Matter
Date: 12th August 2025
The Department of Computer Science, under the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), conducted Empowering Young Minds with Ideas That Matter at Kendriya Vidyalaya IISc, with 100 students from Classes 9, 11, and 12 participating. Coordinated by Ms. Pooja N and Ms. Fathima S, the event aimed to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Students participated in Logo Making and On-the-Spot Business Idea Pitch activities, showcasing teamwork, innovation, and presentation skills. Outstanding performers were recognized for their creativity and clarity. Overall, the event provided an engaging platform for students to explore entrepreneurship, develop problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in presenting their ideas.
Orientation for Ist Semester Students
Date: 15/07/2024 to 16/07/2024
The Orientation Programme for I Semester students was conducted over two days on 15th and 16th July 2024 to warmly welcome students and orient them to the academic environment. Day 1 commenced with an inaugural session, beginning with a welcome address by the Principal, followed by an insightful keynote address delivered by the chief guest. The session highlighted the vision and values of the institution. The Head of the Department addressed parents and students, explaining the features and benefits of the autonomous curriculum. The session helped parents gain clarity about the academic structure and evaluation process. Day 2 began with a formal welcome to the students and an overview of the orientation programme. A motivational session on Self Transformation was handled by Mr. Rajesh, focusing on personal growth and adaptability. This was followed by an Endurance and Team Building activity conducted by Mr. Sathish and his team, encouraging collaboration and resilience. The programme also included a departmental orientation session led by Mr. Basavaraj C M, HOD and Academic Coordinator, Department of BCA. An autonomous syllabus discussion and a guided campus tour were conducted by respective academic coordinators, helping students familiarize themselves with academic expectations and campus facilities.
The orientation program began with the welcome of students. A brief description about the orientation program was given by resource person Mr. Rajesh on Self Transformation. Endurance and Team building Activity was held by the resource person Mr. Sathish and team.
Poster Presentation

The Computer Science Department, coordinated by Mrs. Haripriya GS, organized a poster presentation event for the BCA first-year students of 2024 as part of the IT Club – "Techno Freaks," with the theme "Tech Explores: First Steps into BCA." Held on 4th September 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, the event took place in front of the Computer Science Department on the 5th level.
A total of 38 teams participated, showcasing topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Networks, Programming Languages, and Operating Systems. The event was judged by Mrs. Geethanjali R, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA, MSRIT. All teams displayed their posters and provided brief explanations, based on which they were evaluated. The coordinators of the first-year students recorded attendance and assigned marks for the event.
Freshers Talent hunt-2024

The Freshers Talent Hunt–2024 was organized with the objective of identifying, encouraging, and nurturing talented students across various fields such as music, dance, and art. The event provided an excellent platform for freshers to showcase their skills and express their creativity with confidence. Participants were evaluated based on talent and skill proficiency in their respective domains, along with creativity and originality displayed in their performances. Special emphasis was given to stage presence, assessing the ability of students to convey emotions and perform confidently. Audience engagement was also considered, focusing on how effectively participants interacted with and captivated the crowd. The programme helped in recognizing emerging talents and boosting self-confidence among students. It also encouraged healthy competition and artistic expression. Overall, the event successfully created opportunities for interaction, learning, and networking among participants, faculty members, and invited professionals, fostering a vibrant and inclusive cultural environment on campus.
NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY 2024

National science day is commemorated on February 28th every year to honor the discovery of the Raman effect by sir C V Raman. This year, National Science Day was celebrated with a focus on the theme "Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat," hosted by the Department of Sciences at M S Ramaiah College of Arts, Science, and Commerce as part of the DBT Star College scheme. The event saw the formation of several committees, with faculty coordinators and student volunteers playing integral roles in its successful execution. A total of 5 departments were involved- computer science, electronics, microbiology, biotechnology and genetics, chemistry, and biochemistry. Our college had a total of three events scheduled for National Science Day 2024.
The department of computer science conducted experiments revolving the real-world problems such as towers of Hanoi which explains the moving of n number of disks from source to destination, how to fill exact amount of water without measurement and how to place the ministers without attacking each other in a specific chess board.
National Science Day 2025 Theme : GENIUS GALAXY ( Science Shaping Tomorrow)

Genius Galaxy 2025 was organized by M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science, and Commerce (Autonomous) on February 11, 2025, as part of National Science Day celebrations. Students from numerous Bengaluru schools participated in competitions such as debate, painting, quiz, model making, and oratory. The program began with a welcome address by the Principal and included a photo session and guided visits to science laboratories.
The event aimed to encourage scientific thinking, develop creativity, build confidence, and promote teamwork among students. Participants showcased their talents under the theme “Science Shaping Tomorrow.
