GUEST LECTURE: “CORPORATE REVIVAL THROUGH INTERNAL RECONSTRUCTION AND CAPITAL REDUCTION”

The Department of Commerce (B.Com), MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce, conducted a Guest Lecture on “Corporate Revival through Internal Reconstruction and Capital Reduction” on 20th February 2026 at Kuvempu Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by Ms. Shruthi Y V, FCMA, CS (Final), M.Com.
The lecture focused on the concepts of internal reconstruction, capital reduction, legal provisions under the Companies Act, and accounting treatment. The resource person explained key aspects such as the need for reconstruction, procedures, and preparation of Reconstruction Accounts with practical examples.
The session enhanced students’ understanding of financial restructuring, improved their conceptual clarity, and provided practical insights. Overall, it was an informative and valuable learning experience.
GUEST LECTURE ON FINANCIAL ANALYTICS IN COMMERCE AND BUSINESS

The Department of Commerce (M.Com), Ramaiah College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), organized a Guest Lecture on “Financial Analytics in Commerce and Business: Leveraging Data and Predictive Insights for Smarter Financial Decision Making” on 30 January 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Kuvempu Seminar Hall.
The session was delivered by Ms. Archana Munoyat, Chartered Accountant and ACCA, who highlighted the growing significance of financial analytics in modern business and finance. The lecture focused on the role of data, predictive analytics, and analytics-driven decision making in areas such as forecasting, investment analysis, risk management, and business performance evaluation.
Students actively participated in the session and engaged in an interactive discussion on career opportunities and practical applications of financial analytics. The programme provided valuable industry-oriented exposure and enhanced students’ understanding of data-driven financial practices.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Mamatha C. N, under the guidance of Mrs. Roopa H. S., HOD, and Dr. Pushpa H., Principal. The programme concluded successfully with positive student feedback.
Financial Literacy and Investment Awareness
Date: 29th August 2025
The Department of Commerce organized a Guest Lecture on Financial Literacy and Investment Awareness for I Semester B.Com students. The session was coordinated by Ms. Sindhu, Faculty Coordinator. She welcomed the gathering and introduced the Resource Person, Ms. Marina Jose Kanjikal, Resource Person, NSE Ltd.
There were 109 students participated in the event. The session was highly interactive, where students actively participated and gained valuable insights into financial literacy, savings, and investment opportunities. The resource person highlighted the importance of early financial planning and shared practical strategies to make informed financial decisions.
Objectives of the Workshop
- To create awareness among students on the importance of financial literacy.
- To familiarize students with the basics of savings, investment, and money management.
- To encourage students to develop good financial habits for future financial security.
CAREER MAPPING FOR STUDENTS – “HOW GLOBAL STUDY SHAPES YOUR PROFESSIONAL FUTURE”

The Department of Commerce organized a career-oriented workshop titled "Career Mapping for Students – How Global Study Shapes Your Professional Future" on 22nd July 2025. Aimed at III Semester B.Com students, the session focused on introducing the concept of career mapping in a global context. It was designed to help students understand how international education can influence their career trajectories and enhance their global readiness.
Objectives of the Workshop
- To introduce the concept and benefits of career mapping in an international setting.
- To help students identify their strengths, interests, and career aspirations.
- To guide them in designing academic and global-study pathways.
- To provide tools for creating actionable career goals and milestones.
- To foster adaptability and cultural competence for global opportunities.
It provided a unique platform for students to understand the scope of global education and its long-term impact on their careers. The Department of Commerce remains committed to organizing such value-added programs that align with the institution's vision of holistic student development.
WORKSHOP ON HOME-BASED MUSHROOM CULTIVATION
Date: 27-7-2024
The Department of Commerce organized a workshop on “Home-Based Mushroom Cultivation: Nurturing Entrepreneurial Skills with Sustainable Resources” on 27th September 2024 for III and V Semester B.Com students. The session was led by Dr. Channarayappa, Professor & Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetics, and Head of the R&D Cell, MSRCASC. With the participation of 120 students, the workshop provided hands-on insights into mushroom cultivation, highlighted its potential as a sustainable, low-cost entrepreneurial venture, and encouraged students to explore innovative agri-based business opportunities. The session was coordinated by Ms. Sindhu M and successfully enriched learners with practical knowledge and inspiration toward sustainable entrepreneurship.
By the end of the workshop, students gained a thorough understanding of the mushroom cultivation process, including how to set up and maintain the necessary conditions for growth. The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing interests.
CLASSROOM TO STOCK MARKET – DEMAT DRIVE WORKSHOP

The Department of Commerce, MSRCASC, organized an insightful workshop titled “Classroom to Stock Market: Join the DEMAT Drive” to enhance financial literacy and introduce students to real-world investment practices. The session aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical exposure to stock market operations.
The workshop began with the Ramaiah Anthem, followed by an introduction of the resource person, Mr. U. S. Sagar, an expert in stock trading and investment strategies.Students received hands-on guidance on stock market fundamentals, DEMAT account usage, investment strategies, portfolio diversification, risk management, and live market analysis. An interactive Q&A session further enabled participants to clarify doubts and deepen their understanding.
The event saw enthusiastic participation, with many students expressing keen interest in beginning their investment journey and initiating the process of opening DEMAT accounts.
