Established in 2000, the Department of Biotechnology & Genetics at M. S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce – Autonomous has evolved into a vibrant centre for academic excellence, research, and innovation in Life Sciences. Plant & Environmental Biotechnology Specialisation in plant biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, microbial applications, and sustainable biological systems. Medical & Health Biotechnology Research areas include neurobiology, neurogenetics, cancer biology, immunology, and nanotherapeutics, addressing key challenges in healthcare and medicine. Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Application of computational tools in genomics, molecular modelling, and biological data analysis to support modern research and innovation. Nano biotechnology & Biopharmaceuticals Focus on nanotechnology, drug delivery systems, biopolymers, and bioengineering for industrial and medical applications. Advanced Research Equipment Thermocycler/PCR systems, gel documentation systems, ELISA readers, cooling centrifuges, air samplers, SDS-PAGE units, immunoelectrophoresis units, UV transilluminators, digital colony counter, and high-speed centrifuges.
