About the Department

Established in 2000, the Department of Biotechnology & Genetics at M. S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce – Autonomous has evolved into a vibrant centre for academic excellence, research, and innovation in Life Sciences. The department is committed to providing a research-oriented and experiential learning environment that bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.

The department is recognized under the DBT–Star College Scheme, which strengthens laboratory infrastructure, promotes hands-on training, and supports advanced skill development in Life Sciences.

The department nurtures scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and technical expertise through a balanced blend of conceptual learning, laboratory training, and research exposure.
