World Cancer Day 2026 – Poster Presentation Competition

On the occasion of World Cancer Day 2026, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) organized an inspiring Poster Presentation Competition to promote awareness about cancer and its prevention.

The event brought together UG and PG students from various departments who creatively presented innovative ideas and scientific insights in the fight against cancer. Through their posters, students highlighted the importance of research, awareness, early detection, and preventive healthcare.

The competition served as an academic platform that combined scientific knowledge with creativity, encouraging students to think critically and contribute towards spreading awareness about cancer in society.

MSRCASC continues to inspire young minds to engage in meaningful scientific discussions and initiatives that promote a healthier and cancer-aware future.

Alumni Talk – Unlocking Career Paths with Alumni Voices

The Department of Microbiology, MSRCASC, organized an alumni interaction session titled “Unlocking Career Paths with Alumni Voices” on 16 February 2026 for IV Semester B.Sc. (Section C) students, with 15 participants.

The session featured distinguished alumni Mr. Mohammed Ali Khan, Research Consultant at Sangath, India, and Ms. Sanjana Ghosh, Civil Service aspirant (2018–21 batch, B.Sc. Genetics/Microbiology). The speakers shared their academic journeys, professional experiences, and insights into diverse career opportunities, particularly in clinical psychology, civil services, and interdisciplinary fields beyond conventional microbiology careers.

The interactive session provided guidance on higher education, skill development, and career planning while addressing students’ queries. The talk successfully enhanced students’ awareness of career pathways, encouraged informed decision-making, and inspired them to pursue their goals with confidence and clarity.


Skit Competition – “Genescene: Where Genes Tell Their Story”

Date : 24-01-2026

The Department of Microbiology organized a skit competition titled “Genescene – Where Genes Tell Their Story” on 24 January 2026 in the IV Semester B.Sc. Classroom, with the enthusiastic participation of 148 II Year B.Sc. students. The activity was designed to promote experiential learning in Molecular Biology and Recombinant DNA Technology.

The event provided students with a creative platform to dramatize complex genetic concepts such as the lac operon, transformation, gene cloning, transcription, tRNA structure, and recombinant production of insulin and human growth hormone. Through engaging role-plays, costumes, and simplified scientific storytelling, students effectively transformed abstract molecular mechanisms into visually appealing and memorable performances.

The competition significantly enhanced students’ conceptual clarity, teamwork, communication skills, creativity, and stage confidence, making the learning process interactive, enjoyable, and impactful.


IIT JAM Coaching Program: Strengthening Foundations for Academic Excellence

The Department of Biotechnology and Genetics organized IIT JAM Coaching classes for Life Science students from 10 January 2026 to 7 February 2026 at M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous). The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Dinesh S., Mentor and UPSC Specialist, in the presence of Dr. Pushpa H., Principal, and Prof. Jayashree D.R., Head, Department of Biotechnology and Genetics. The resource persons for the program were Dr. Pratheek B.M. and Dr. Dileep Kumar M.G., Assistant Professors, Department of Biotechnology and Genetics, MSRCASC. The coaching sessions were structured to provide systematic and comprehensive coverage of key topics aligned with the IIT JAM Life Science syllabus. The primary objective of the program was to strengthen students’ conceptual clarity, enhance analytical thinking, and improve numerical problem-solving skills. Students were also familiarized with the examination pattern, question trends, and difficulty level to help them approach the IIT JAM examination with greater confidence and preparedness.


Krishi Purva 2k26: A Vibrant Tribute to India’s Agrarian Roots

Krishi Purva 2k26 was celebrated with great vibrancy and cultural pride on 29 January 2026 at the MSR Sports Ground, M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous). The campus transformed into a lively rural landscape with a traditional pooja, desi games, and colourful festive stalls, creating an authentic harvest ambience. Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) were meaningfully integrated through curated displays of books and posters highlighting the cultural and agrarian significance of Sankranti. A total of 28 stalls by local and indigenous vendors, along with student-led stalls, showcased organic products, festive delicacies, and innovative ideas, reflecting students’ entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm. The cultural highlight of Krishi Purva 2k26 was the captivating performance by the Om Shakti Folklore Troupe, Haveri, whose energetic and authentic folk presentation beautifully reflected the richness of Indian agrarian traditions. Enthralling student cultural performances and the active participation of faculty, staff, and students made the celebration grand, engaging, and truly memorable.

National Science Day

Date : 27-02-2025 & 28-02-2025

National Science day was celebrated on 28th feb 2025. The guest of honour was Prof. Jayaraman Srinivasan, Former Chairman Divecha Center for Climate Change. He gave a talk on climate change its importance and consequences. As a part of National Science day celebration, on 11th of feb and 27th feb 2025 various activities were conducted for school kids and students of Ramaiah college for which prize distribution was done on 28th feb.


Institutional Visit

Date : 13/05/2025

This event is a visit to Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences, Shivanapura, Bengaluru which is Department of Science & Technology (DST) institute, to have a research exposure and to experience the high-end equipment for M.Sc II and IV semester students of Biochemistry. There were total 36 student beneficiaries of this trip including two faculty from the department. Trip started from MSRCASC by college vehicle, reached on time by 10:20 am and after reaching all were taken to coffee/tea area to settle down in the amazing natural ambience. Lab visits were started immediately until 12:45 pm involving enthusiastic interactions by the PhD scholars at the centre who given a vivid explanation of the equipment. PG students also had so many questions, clarifications and ideas exchanged with them. Then there was CeNS sponsored lunch to all the students, faculty and driver at the canteen. Post lunch session included a lecture by Dr. Sanjay, CeNS giving the details of the scope of the research centre and explorable opportunities for students. Following the lecture, session was concluded with few words of vote of thanks by Dr. Vasanth K Bhaskara honouring them with memento along with student videos of feedback that were recorded. The complete program ended by around 3 pm and returned to MSRCASC after having group photo in front of the institute.


Institutional visit

Date: 27-6- 2025

One day educational visit to Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Research - CeNS (an autonomous institute under Department of Science and Technology, Govt. Of India) Nelamangala, Bengaluru. One day educational visit was organized by the Department of Chemistry/Biochemistry for II Year MSc Chemistry students. The intention of the visit was to provide students with an exposure to the research facilities, working and applications of various instruments. In the morning the students attended two intriguing technical talks alongside fun activities followed by which they interacted with the distinguished faculty members of CeNS. In the noon, students visited the Materials and Energy lab, learnt about various instruments and engaged in discussions with the research scholars regarding the overview of their labs. The students thoroughly enjoyed, learned and had a great experience which has sparked an ambition of pursuing research in the young minds. QuantaVerse 2025 – Intercollegiate Science Fest

M.S Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) organized QuantaVerse 2025, an intercollegiate science fest, on 19 September 2025 at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium. The event brought together UG and PG students from across Bengaluru to celebrate scientific talent, creativity, and innovation.

A total of 93 teams from leading institutions—including Jain University, St. Joseph’s University, Mount Carmel College, Acharya Institute, Maharani Cluster University, MES College, GFGC Malleshwaram, Christ University, and many others—actively participated, making the fest a vibrant and competitive platform.

The fest aimed to showcase the college’s academic strength, infrastructure, and extracurricular culture, while encouraging teamwork, leadership, and confidence among students. Participants engaged in a range of science-based competitions such as Beyond the Crime Scene (Hackathon), Voice of Vision (Start-up Ideas), Knock Out Nucleus (Puzzle Event), Promtify (Web Designing), and The Scribe Sprint (Synthetic Biology Contest).

QuantaVerse 2025 successfully provided a stimulating space for young scholars to explore, compete, and collaborate, leaving a memorable impact on all participants.


Biofest 2025, Where Science & Creativity Collide an Intra-College Fest

Biofest 2025, hosted by the Biotitans Club of the Department of Biotechnology, MSRCASC, was held on 13 June 2025 with the theme “Where Science & Creativity Collide.” The vibrant intra-college fest saw enthusiastic participation from 150 PG life science students. Highlights included Biohackathon, Bioentrepreneurship, and Pipette Wars, blending innovation with hands-on skills.


Genius Galaxy: Inspiring Young Minds on National Science Day 2025

The Department of Sciences at M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science, and Commerce hosted Genius Galaxy, a dynamic outreach event on February 11, 2025, to celebrate National Science Day under the theme "Science Shaping Tomorrow." The event provided students with an immersive experience, allowing them to explore various laboratories and understand the real-world applications of science 2025 Adding to the excitement, multiple competitions—including painting, quizzes, model-making, debates, and oratorical contests—encouraged students to showcase their creativity and scientific knowledge. With 145 students from 15 schools participating, the event served as a platform to ignite curiosity and inspire young minds to embrace science as a tool for shaping the future. The schools that participated were Navkis Educational Centre- Gokula, Orchids International School, Vidyashilp Academy, Trio World Academy, Mother Theresa Public School, Narayana E Techno School, Mathikere, Sri Vidya Mandir, Mathikere, Chrsalis High School, Arbindo Public School, KV Airforce Yelahanka, Sindhi High School, BBMP Government School, AC School, Sri Ranga Vidya Nikethan High School, NPS Yelahanka.


National Science Day 2025: Inspiring Young Minds for a Better Tomorrow

The Department of Sciences at MSRCASC, Autonomous, Bengaluru, organized a vibrant National Science Day celebration on 28 February 2025. The event aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, helping students develop a deeper understanding of science. The theme, “Science Shaping Tomorrow,” set the tone for an inspiring day. A thought-provoking talk by Prof. Jayaraman Srinivasan, Honorary Professor at IISc, encouraged young minds to be more conscious about nature.

The celebration also recognized the achievements of school students who excelled in various competitions, including painting, debate, model making, quiz, and oratory contests, which were held on 11th February.


Biofest 2024

The PG Biofest 2024, an intercollegiate festival for postgraduate life science students, took place from July 23 to July 25, 2024, organized by the PG Biotechnology Department under the Biotitans Club. The event featured three competitions—Biopoem, Biopottery, and Biophotography—allowing students to showcase their creativity and scientific knowledge. The festival highlighted the importance of creativity in scientific education. The closing ceremony, held on July 25, celebrated the participants' achievements and marked the launch of the Biotitans Club logo.

Throughout the festival, students actively engaged in competitions centered on themes such as life stages through nature, floral patterns, and seasonal transformations. The event successfully fostered collaboration and innovation, drawing participation from MS Ramaiah College, Eastwest College, NMKRV, and Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College. Overall, PG Biofest 2024 provided a vibrant platform for students to demonstrate their talents, emphasizing the integration of creativity and scientific inquiry.
